With the deadly threat of Ebola having travelled from West Africa into the USA and now Europe,
concerns are that interaction with large crowds and even shaking hands could accelerate the
epidemic which could spiral out of control.
Travel could be difficult in the coming months to certain areas as nations attempt to protect themselves against this threat. Many believe that the safest way to avoid potential contamination is to limit travel to the affected areas and migrate to shopping online in those areas.
We could see the landscape change and have pockets of deserted areas until this virus is under control, as a result many inhabitants close to the threat of infection would be wise to shop online and if the virus spreads then others should follow suit.
Our UK Government has moved faster than Usaine Bolt to put protective barriers up and other countries should do the same without further delay.
My view is that in affected areas there will be a surge in domestic energy consumption as people stay at home, Online shopping will rapidly expand further and more people will use conferencing facilities and telecommunications services until the threat declines.
